(HQ: Kyoto, Minami-ku, Japan Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo hereafter) today announced the second trailer for The Super Mario Bros. ![]() Martinet is expected to have a couple of cameo's in the Mario film, and they'll undoubtedly be better than the half-arsed attempt at a Brooklyn accent that Pratt struggled to achieve, a far-cry from the " unlike anything you've heard" smoke he blew up his own you-know-what. Illumination (HQ: Santa Monica, CA, USA Founder and CEO: Chris Meledandri) and Nintendo Co., Ltd. Pratt himself isn't a voice actor, even though he has done a few voice roles, whereas Schwartz has regularly performs voice roles for shows like the Ducktales reboot and The Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Aside from the obvious problems with Pratt, the issue is that voice actors often aren't appreciated for the specific ways they handle acting as a craft. It isn't uncommon for video game characters to receive celebrity actors to take over the role in film adaptations, like Ben Schwartz taking over Sonic the Hedgehog for the live action films. My little eyes seem to be leaking today… with tender affection. Strong also later posted a tweet asking fans to share some nice stories they have with Martinet, saying that she happens "to know a certain earth angel who could use some love." In turn, Martinet responded, saying, "Your love and kindness mean more than you could ever know, And genuinely touched my heart. The voice actress followed this up with a tweet that is quite scathing towards Hollywood as a whole, writing, "Voice actors- I’m gonna put my heart & soul in this for at least 20 years, help sell billions in merch, make the studios millions of dollars & make generations around the world happy. However, the trailer for the 2023 Super Mario Bros film certainly got the Nintendo fandom talking, loudly, we might add, about Mario’s new voice. To pretty much everyone's horror, last year it was revealed that Chris Pratt would play Mario in Illumination's adaptation of the beloved series. Look, I’m not saying we have an Ugly Sonic situation here.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. It’s like when they gave the Smurfs those weirdly realistic irises in the Smurfs movies. It might take a minute to put your finger on where exactly you went wrong, but the result is still freakish and upsetting. The new Mario looks like when you try to draw a portrait of someone in art class but your proportions aren’t quite right. Charles Martinet, the actor known for his iconic work as the voice of Mario (as well as a number of other characters in the Nintendo franchise) has said that he would. He just looks off, and my kid’s reaction proved to me that I wasn’t imagining it. You can see it, right? Mario’s eyes are juuust slightly too small, and not quite blue enough, and they lack that hyper cutesy look that makes you forget that you’re watching a grown man bounce around on giant mushroom caps. ![]()
